Symptoms and Relief of Constipation During Pregnancy

Most pregnant women usually experiences constipation, but some pregnant women undergoes severe constipation during pregnancy. When constipation becomes severe during pregnancy, it requires treatment in order to have constipation relief. Chronic constipation during pregnancy can be very painful, stressful and uncomfortable, so it really needs remedy or better yet prevention.

 


During pregnancy, the body produces more of the female hormone progesterone than usual which is perfectly normal and part of the natural state of a woman's body whilst carrying a child. The effect of this however, is that sometimes the progesterone causes relaxation of the muscle wall of the bowel which is then less able to move food and bodily waste along. This slowing of the woman's intestinal movements often brings about the state of being constipated.

 


The main signs of constipation during pregnancy are:


•    Feces are hard, making them difficult to pass. This can sometimes cause bleeding from the rectum in severe cases
•    Three or four days between each bowel movement
•    A general feeling that not all the feces are being passed - this can cause some discomfort
•    Constipation can also be a cause of lower abdominal pain.
•    In extreme, but rare, circumstances, constipation can result in difficulties giving birth

 

Some precautions and remedies include:


•    It is quite important for pregnant women to look after their diet and maintain regular bowel habits to avoid unnecessary discomfort and possible complications.
•    Eat plenty of fiber since this stimulates the intestines to work harder and also absorbs liquid, which helps ensure that the feces do not dry out, but remain soft.
•    Include a range of the following in your diet: fruit (especially prunes), vegetables, whole meal bread, breakfast cereals
•    Drink plenty of water - at least six tumblers of fluid per day. This will help ensure that the intestine works as well as possible and keep the feces soft
•    Take gentle exercise to gently stimulate the bowel and help digestion. Walking or swimming for about 20 to 30 minutes per day, three times a week will help digestion

 


Severe constipation during pregnancy may bring discomfort to pregnant women but with proper treatment and remedy, this problem will be resolved easily. Pregnant women just need to watch their diet so that they can prevent severe constipation. Constipation during pregnancy can be avoided with proper exercise and healthy diet.

 

 

Constipation has never been a great experience for some and will never be especially for pregnant women. There are treatments and remedies for severe constipation during pregnancy and it assures pregnant women to relieve from constipation quickly and naturally. But since that there are limited medicines for pregnant women to take, so it may really bother them on how to have constipation relief.

 

 


Severe constipation during pregnancy will be a lot difficult for some but if they only know the best and right treatments, there will be no problem for them at all. Not only that they would have the best treatments but they should also watch out what they eat. Pregnant women should eat healthy foods such as fruits and green leafy vegetables for the both for the baby and the mommy.
