Constipation is the most common gastrointestinal complaint and you need fast constipation relief. It is the passage of small amounts of hard, dry bowel movements, usually fewer than three times a week.

1. Diet. The most common cause of constipation is a diet low in fiber. Fiber is found in vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. It is the soluble and insoluble part of the fruits, vegetables, and whole grains that the body cannot digest. Soluble fiber dissolves easily in water and takes on a soft, gel-like texture in the intestines. Insoluble fiber passes just about unaltered through the intestines. 2. Not enough liquids. People who drink less than eight 8-ounce glasses of liquid a day are more likely to get constipated. Liquids add fluid to the colon and bulk to the stools making bowel movements easier. It also keeps the body hydrated and helps the digestive tract create regular bowel movement.
3. Lack of exercise. Lack of exercise can lead to constipation. Without exercise the walls of the colon will not receive the sufficient amount of oxygen rich blood that it needs, thereby making the colon sluggish.
4. Aging. Aging also contributes to irregularity in bowel movements. Older persons have metabolisms that slows down with age and results in less intestinal activity and muscle tone.
5. Pregnancy. Pregnant women are prone to constipation because of hormonal changes and the fact that the uterus heavy with child compresses the intestine.
6. Travel. People often become constipated when travelling. Travel lead to a disruption of the normal diet and daily routines. Stress associated with travel can also affect bowel movement.
7. Medications. Pain medications, antacids, antidepressants, iron supplements, diuretics, and anti-convulsants for epilepsy can slow passage of bowel movements.
8. Ignoring the urge to have a bowel movement. People who ignore the urge to have a bowel movement may eventually stop feeling the urge, which can lead to constipation. Several reasons are given why some people ignore the urge to have a bowel movement. There are those who do not want to use toilets other than the one they have at home. Others ignore the urge because of emotional stress or because they are too busy to pass stools.
9. Specific diseases. There are some diseases that cause constipation and they include neurological disorders, metabolic and endocrine disorders, and systemic conditions that may affect organ systems. These disorders can slow the movement of stool through the colon, rectum, or anus so it’s better to have immediate relief constipation. |
